Swap Colour in Area
Sometimes you want to swap one colour for another in a given area but leave the original colour in another area. This tool allows you to select an area, then select a stitch of the old colour, and finally select a replacement colour. Any stitches outside the seleced area are left alone.

This can be very useful when you are zoomed in close and want to swap a colour. instead of having to zoom out and check the colour is not used somewhere else, you can simply select the area you can see and limit the swap to that area.

Used in Hardanger design to fill a cutout area usually between kloster blocks and woven bars.

The printed chart shows the spiders web in a similar way to the screen image. It can be set to print in colour or black.

Cross Stitch Professional software for Windows
can be used for converting photographs and clipart into cross stitch charts. It can also be used to design charts starting with a blank sheet. Charts can be produced complete with colour key, simulation of stitched result and thread organiser cards.

As well as the 3 versions of our cross stitch software + hand stitching, there are also a version designed for digitising for machine. The digitising process is completely automatic once the cross stitch design is entered by drawing or scanning.

The program features advanced tools such as layered objects, despeckling, smoothing, shape drawing etc.

Image importing features sophisticated colour reduction and matching and is not a simple majority colour reduction. Manufacturers colour ranges have been measured accuratley using a spectrophotometer to ensure matching between screen colours and the finished stitched result.

The Plus and Publisher versions include export capability including huge image export and pdf creation without the need for additional pdf creation software.

This should not be confused with tapestry or designs where the entire chart is stitched as a 1/2 cross. For this, you should use the cross stitch tool but switch the display to show tapestry stitches.

The 1/2 stitch tool is used when a mixture of cross stitch and half cross stitch are required in the same design and it is desired to use the same symbol for a particular colour in both 1/2 cross and full cross.

The printed symbol chart uses two identical smaller symbols in opposite corners of the square.

Where it is required to show a single larger symbol, use the cross stitch tool but add the colour to the palette twice and allocate a different symbol for the 1/2 cross.
